After NaNo

I was thinking about doing Camp NaNoWriMo in April, but I’ve decided to just trundle along at my own pace instead. So far it’s been a year of plans not quite coming together: I haven’t been doing much of anything towards Passable Media, and while I’m happy with The Lost Tales and am super thrilled to have something legitimately completed, I no longer think it’s the right format for several of the stories within it. With that in mind, I’ve decided to let Passable Media take a bit of a back seat for a few months– I’ll get back into it eventually, but I’m enjoying the downtime right now, and am choosing to focus on my writing instead. And as for what i’m working on writing-wise, I’m turning the Elem story from The Lost Tales into a full-length novel. Technically I have a trilogy (or possibly a duology) in mind, but for now that first novel is the focus.

It’s the first Fractured world I created, and the magic system that’s been the most cemented in my mind for the longest time, but I am realising now that I actually come to write it that it’s not as well thought out as I had originally thought. Big history ideas inspired by the likes of Sullivan and Sanderson are great and all, but if the magic system it’s all based on isn’t up to snuff then I can’t really expect it to get off the ground!

So, worldbuilding then. But with purpose.
